Time Under Tension blends pilates inspired movement, strength training, and cardio for an athletic approach to low-impact training.

OUR STORY

Kelly Cole, a native New Yorker fitness entrepreneur and mom of 2 little girls in Brooklyn, holds certifications as a NASM personal trainer and pre/postnatal specialist.

With over 12 years in competitive cheerleading and 6+ years dedicated to fitness in NYC, Kelly has always been an athlete and passionate about an active lifestyle.

During the pandemic, Kelly was underwhelmed with her options — mat pilates didn't give the intensity she craved and HIIT style bootcamps felt too aggressive on her body and rarely gave her the opportunity to activate the right muscles.

She was craving the slow and specific burn of pilates type movements, but also the heavy resistance she was used to working with on the megaformer. Kelly started programming her own at home workouts to fill the void. She fell in love with playing with tempos, varying weight and stability work and Time Under Tension was born.

As an instructor, Kellys philosophy is less "YOU GOT THIS" and more "HERES HOW TO GET THIS". In her experience, especially with in-person class settings, there is a lack of emphasis on form, which not only results in injuries, but also less of an opportunity for results you get when you are focused on and connected to the right muscles during your workout.

As a seasoned Megareformer pilates instructor at SLT and creator of her method, Time Under Tension, she blends strength training, pilates, and cardio for a comprehensive workout accessible through her on-demand library. Kelly’s focus on form and detailed cueing throughout each workout helps to bridge the gap between a class setting and a 1:1 private training experience.
